Our Mission

At The Stables at Georgetown, our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment for residents in recovery. We focus on empowering our residents through comprehensive programs and dedicated staff to help maintain sobriety while furthering their education or employment.

What We Offer

12 Step & Celebrate Recovery

House Rules, Curfew and Drug/Alcohol Tests

For decades, 12-step programs have been at the forefront of addiction recovery, assisting people in overcoming substance abuse, revitalizing their relationships and achieving success in their careers. Celebrate Recovery covers a wide range if issues, including addiction, co-dependency, financial problems, and more.

House Rules, Curfew and Drug/Alcohol Tests

House Rules, Curfew and Drug/Alcohol Tests

Residents are expected to follow structured house rules designed to promote accountability, safety, and long-term recovery.

A nightly curfew is enforced and may vary based on a resident’s phase in the program, employment schedule, and progress. All residents must check in by curfew unless prior approval is granted.

Random and scheduled drug and alcohol testing is conducted. Any use, possession, or distribution of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate discharge from the program.

These guidelines are in place to create a supportive, respectful, and recovery-focused community where all residents have the opportunity to succeed.

Accountability Roommate

Each resident is paired with an accountability roommate to help maintain structure, provide support, and encourage sobriety. Roommates help keep one another on schedule, offer encouragement during emotional or challenging moments, and promote a positive, recovery-focused environment.

To ensure a safe and supportive community, all residents are expected to uphold house standards, including adherence to curfew and promptly reporting any drug or alcohol violations.

Mentorship Program

The Mentorship Program provides structured support through weekly Emotional Intelligence and Leadership training, designed to strengthen personal development, relationships, and life skills.

The program operates in three phases:

Phase 1: Mentee

Participants focus on building a foundation of self-awareness, accountability, and core life skills.

Phase 2: Mentor

Participants take on mentorship roles, supporting others while reinforcing their own growth and leadership abilities.

Phase 3: Leader

Participants are given increased responsibility, leadership opportunities, and greater independence as they prepare for transition beyond the program.

The program is designed to equip individuals with the tools and support needed for long-term success. Ongoing community connection is maintained through bi-annual Leader reunions.

Semi-All Inclusive

Each resident receives a furnished bedroom with a twin, queen or king bed, mini fridge, dresser, clothes rack, as well as access to amenities such as the pool, hot tub, and Wi-Fi. Monthly cost also covers utilities, taxes, insurance, routine drug and alcohol testing, private and group therapy, structured programs, and 24/7 staff on-site. Private executive bedrooms are available.

Equine Therapy

Equine therapy is designed to support healing, self discovery, and long term recovery.  Working with horses provides residents with an opportunity to develop trust, emotional awareness, and healthy communication skills in a calm, natural environment.  Horses are highly intuitive and mirror human emotions.  Through guided, hands-on interactions such as grooming, leading, and groundwork (no riding required), residents learn to reduce anxiety and stress, build confidence and self worth.

    Founders

    Luke & Vanessa Johnson

Luke and Vanessa Johnson are the founders of The Stables at Georgetown, a luxury recovery residence rooted in purpose, compassion, and personal conviction.

Luke holds a Business Degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and is a home builder. His journey into the recovery space is deeply personal—after losing his best friend to an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2024, Luke felt a profound calling to be part of the solution and to create a place where men could find real support, structure, and hope.

Vanessa earned her law degree from Arizona State University and brings both professional insight and personal experience to the mission. With multiple qualifiers in Al-Anon, she understands firsthand the far-reaching impact addiction has on families and loved ones, and the importance of healing not just the individual—but the entire support system.

Together, Luke and Vanessa have combined their backgrounds, resources, and shared passion to transform their luxury property into something far greater than a place to stay. The Stables at Georgetown was created as a sanctuary—where men in recovery can rebuild their lives in a peaceful, structured, and elevated environment.

Sober living homes in Texas are not always licensed like treatment centers, but many follow best practices and may be affiliated with organizations that promote high standards and accountability. We are Trohn Certified.  TROHN certification ensures quality recovery residences in Texas.  The Texas Recovery Oriented Housing Network (TROHN) certifies recovery residences that adhere to national standards set by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR).

The Stables offers a truly unique recovery environment by combining community, nature, and purpose. Our property is a transformed equestrian center designed to accommodate up to 40 residents, creating a supportive, community-driven atmosphere where connection and accountability thrive. Research shows that larger, structured peer environments can enhance recovery outcomes, and we’ve built our program around that principle.

What truly sets us apart is our on-site equine therapy. With horses living right on the property, residents have the opportunity to engage in hands-on, therapeutic experiences that promote emotional awareness, responsibility, and healing in a calm, natural setting. The combination of strong peer support and meaningful interaction with animals creates a powerful and restorative recovery experience unlike traditional sober living homes.
